Energy gel for quick energy replenishment during performance

Energy that works exactly when you need it most. Pulse Performance Energy Gel combines maltodextrin and fructose in a modern 1:0.8 ratio – a combination considered optimal in contemporary sports nutrition for a rapid supply of energy during performance. More than 25g of carbohydrates and over 100 kcal per gel. Light consistency, fruity taste – available in passion fruit and orange flavors. No preparation, no waiting.

Why the body needs energy during performance

During intense or prolonged performance, the body primarily burns glycogen – carbohydrate reserves stored in the muscles and liver. The problem is that these reserves are limited. During performance lasting longer than 60–90 minutes, they begin to deplete, leading to a drop in performance, increasing fatigue, and impaired concentration.

Regular intake of carbohydrates during performance slows this process – it maintains blood glucose levels, spares muscle glycogen, and helps maintain pace even in the final stages of a race or workout.

Why the carbohydrate ratio matters

Not every carbohydrate is absorbed via the same pathway. Maltodextrin (and glucose in general) uses one intestinal transporter – SGLT1 – which has a limited capacity of approximately 60g per hour at high intake levels. Fructose uses a different transporter – GLUT5 – thereby opening a parallel absorption pathway.

Combining both carbohydrates in the correct ratio means the body can process and utilize significantly more energy per hour – without overwhelming a single transporter and without unnecessary digestive issues.

The 1:0.8 ratio (maltodextrin:fructose) is among the best-studied combinations. A critical review of studies in Sports Medicine showed that this specific ratio provides the highest oxidation of exogenous carbohydrates during performance – and thus the best benefit for endurance and performance. This was also confirmed by a direct study from 2022 testing this ratio on performance cyclists.

What the gel will actually give you

  • Fast and sustainable energy.Maltodextrin provides quickly available glucose – the onset of energy is rapid. Fructose is processed through a different metabolic pathway and releases energy gradually. The combination of both ensures both an immediate response and a smoother energy availability profile.
  • Maintaining performance in the second half of a workout or race.Regular carbohydrate replenishment during performance helps maintain power, pace, and mental sharpness in moments when glycogen reserves begin to run low. Studies confirm that carbohydrate supplementation prolongs time to exhaustion and improves performance during long-duration activities.

  • Minimum digestive issues. The correct ratio of fructose and maltodextrin accelerates carbohydrate absorption in the gut and reduces the risk of digestive issues – one of the most common problems for athletes during races or strenuous training.

B-group vitamins and Vitamin C

Each gel contains vitamins B1, B2, B3, and B6 – a group of vitamins crucial for energy metabolism. They contribute to normal carbohydrate metabolism, the reduction of fatigue, and normal nervous system function. Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant and protects cells from oxidative stress, which occurs naturally during intense physical exertion.

Who are the Energy Gels for

  • Endurance athletes– runners, cyclists, triathletes, swimmers. Anywhere performance lasts longer than 60 minutes and maintaining pace matters.
  • Crossfit and interval training– during repeated high-intensity sets where rapid energy replenishment directly affects performance in later rounds.
  • Races and important workouts– the gel is an ideal choice for situations where performance is a priority and convenience of consumption plays a role.
  • Anyone training for longer than an hour– regardless of the discipline. Performance in the second hour of training depends on what you provide your body in the first.

Practical format

The energy gel is specifically designed for easy consumption even at full exertion – while cycling, running, or doing Crossfit. The light consistency does not burden the stomach, taking neither time nor focus. No mixing, no shaker, no preparation – you open it and have an immediate supply of energy.

When and how to use

Before performance:5–10 minutes before the start to kickstart glucose availability.

During performance:every 30–45 minutes for activities longer than 60 minutes. Always drink water – it supports absorption and minimizes digestive stress.

Dosage:maximum 4 gels per day.

Tip:Do not consume the gel without water – concentrated carbohydrates without fluid can slow absorption and cause digestive discomfort. A small sip of water after each gel is best practice.
